Scholarships
Since its inception, The Carlin Nalley Foundation has expanded its mission by adding scholarships in the name of Beverly Fiore (Dramatic Arts), Rick Beato (Journalism), and Dr. John Mulcare (Science). An additional scholarship award was announced as the Kurt Grutzmacher Alumni Scholarship will be awarded beginning in 2009, to the son or daughter of an LHS alum or alums.

Carlin Nalley Foundation Awards $50,000 to date
Jayson Osika
(Piccolo) and Amy Carrabine (Didricksen-Zaharias) were this year’s recipients
of the $5,000 scholarship donated annually by the Carlin Nalley Foundation in
Coach Nalley’s name.
Osika and Carrabine’s awards will put the commitment from the Nalley Foundation
at $50,000 over the past five years.
Carrabine and Osika both addressed thank you cards to the CNF.
“I am very honored and grateful” wrote Carrabine.
“ I plan to use the scholarship at Grand Valley State in the Fall” Osika expressed similar thoughts. “The scholarship will be put to good use” Osika writes in his letter. “I’d like to say thank you” and “I’m honored.” The Piccolo winner will be attending the University of Illinois in the Fall.
In 2005, the first recipients of the Nalley Scholarship were named and awarded on the heels of a grant from Kurt Grutzmacher ‘(76) with the intent to honor LHS’ student-athletes as well as coach Nalley.
The awards are paid in two $2,500 increments as the recipients show proof of enrollment for two successive years of college or junior college.
The Nalley Foundation has announced its goal of adding additional scholarships to honor student and faculty endeavors in the arts, science, and journalism. The Foundation does not want to be viewed as an organization dedicated to Lisle athletics, but one that is dedicated to all areas of student excellence.

Help Us Raise Scholarship Money and Barely Lift a Finger
Bill Esposito, Director of Development for the Carlin Nalley Foundation
discovered an ideal way for alums to conduct their normal day-to-day lives and
help the Carlin Nalley Foundation run our scholarship programs.
The Carlin Nalley Foundation is recognized by www.goodsearch.com as an authorized and participating non-profit entity. So here’s what it means.
Log onto www.goodsearch.com. Select Carlin Nalley Foundation in the spacebar in the middle of the homepage. If you choose Goodsearch as your search engine, every time you search at goodsearch.com, they send money to the Carlin Nalley Foundation!
Also, on the goodsearch homepage you will find scores of retailers. If you utilize these retailers and have identified Carlin Nalley Foundation as your charity of choice, our Foundation earns a percentage of what you spend.
So a great job by Bill Esposito (’72). Hopefully all LHS alums will think of us and consider letting goodsearch.com be your engine and purchases through their member retailers and services help fund our foundation and alumni efforts.

TO: LISLE ALUMNI ASSOCIATION
Thank you so much for the wonderful surprise you all had waiting for me at the Hilton in March. In any field of endeavor, there are certain things one hopes to accomplish; in my retirement I have felt that I had indeed met my goals as an educator and as a coach.
To have the recognition of a scholarship in my name, however, extends far beyond any normal expectation. It is certainly an event I will never forget, and neither will the members of my family. It is as powerful an accolade as a teacher can have. While I no longer work daily to educate Lisle students, due to this honor a scholarship in my name will continue my work
I love it. And I appreciate it. To all those involved in extending me this honor, I thank you from the bottom of my heart.
Sincerely,

Rick Beato
